SUMMARY:Who Are The Germans from Russia?
DESCRIPTION:Guest Speaker:  Merv Weiss \nMerv Weiss grew up in the predominantly German community of Fox Valley\, Saskatchewan. The vast majority of the early pioneer homesteaders were German who had immigrated from the Black Sea region of old South Russia (today Ukraine).  Merv has been actively researching his German- Russian background since the year 2000.  To this end\, he has made several trips to Ukraine and to Germany.  Locating and meeting descendants of his Grandfather’s siblings in Germany helped him rediscover his “German-ness”. \nPresented by the Regina Chapter of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and Sponsored by the Saskatchewan German Council and SaskLotteries
