RESEARCH TOOLS

The Saskatchewan Genealogical Society (SGS) has at its disposal many research tools to help you find and document your ancestors.

Library

The SGS Library is the largest genealogical lending library in Canada. The SGS Library is a member of the Saskatchewan Union Catalogue and participates in interlibrary loan arrangements with other libraries. Reference privileges are available to the general public, however, only members of SGS may borrow books and use the microfilm/microfiche collection.

Members who live outside Regina or who are unable to access the library are able to borrow books by mail. These books are sent each Friday with a return label enclosed. Return postage is pre-paid.  We ask that a donation be made to maintain the service.

The SGS major collection consists of records and guides: 25,757 microforms; 652 maps; 105 CD/DVD; and 22,470 books and periodicals from throughout the world. Published library lists are available for borrowing or purchase.

The SGS Library also contains a number of Special Collections that target specific areas of genealogical research. Resources available to help you trace
