About Us

The Saskatchewan Genealogical Society Inc. (SGS) is a registered non-profit organization and a registered Canadian Charity. SGS was founded in 1969 and incorporated on April 20, 1970. The mission of the organization is to provide expertise and assistance to people to help them participate in family history research, and to collect, preserve and deliver Saskatchewan specific genealogical records and materials. SGS has one of the largest genealogical lending libraries in Canada. The SGS has branches throughout the province, approximately 675 members, and numerous volunteers.

The SGS Library is the largest genealogical lending library in Canada.  The library is open to the public, however, only members may borrow books.

Due to the size of our facility, the records maintained, and staff sensitivities we ask that you visit us SCENT FREE.  Persons attending the library or office wearing fragrance may be asked to leave the premise.

Parking:  Metered parking is available on 11th Avenue.  Free two hour parking is available on side streets.  Do not park in parking lot east of the building.
